FAQsIslamabad & Rawalpindi

Cooler weather, more green space around properties, and what arrives from outside — plus the regulator that covers healthcare premises here.

What pest problems are most common in Islamabad and Rawalpindi?

More of what comes in from outside, because there is more green space around most properties here than in central Karachi or Lahore.

Houses backing onto parks, greenbelts, undeveloped plots or the Margalla foothills see more movement in from the surrounding ground: rodents, ants, spiders, occasional snakes during and after monsoon, and more seasonal insect pressure than a dense inner-city block.

The cooler winter slows insect activity properly, which again makes October and November a good window for proofing work before rodents start moving indoors.

Two local points:

  • Healthcare premises in the capital come under the Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA), rather than the Sindh or Punjab commissions.
  • Bahria Town Phase VIII and similar developments are often addressed as Rawalpindi rather than Islamabad. It makes no difference to the treatment, but it matters when you are matching paperwork.

Our office here is at Plaza 70-B, Rafi Block, Bahria Town Phase VIII.

Do houses in Islamabad and Rawalpindi get deemak as badly as Karachi?

Yes, deemak is a real problem here, but the pattern is different. Colder winters slow colonies for part of the year, so damage builds more gradually and is often noticed later.

That slower build is a trap. In Karachi a colony works year round and the signs appear sooner. Here a house can carry termites quietly for years before anyone taps a door frame and finds it hollow.

Local factors that raise the risk: houses backing onto green belts and undeveloped plots, gardens watered against the wall, soil built up above the damp course, and timber stored against the building.

If you are building, treat the soil before the floor goes down. Pre-construction treatment is PKR 10–25 per square foot and is the cheapest protection you will ever buy for the property. Post-construction work on an existing home starts from PKR 20,000.

Please note: any price shown here is a reference price only, not a quotation. Figures are indicative and your actual price may be higher or lower after a site survey. Nothing on this page is an offer or a fixed rate — ask for a written quotation once someone has seen the property.

We back onto a greenbelt in Islamabad. Should we worry about snakes?

It is worth taking seriously during and after monsoon, but the answer is boundary work and rodent control rather than anything you spray.

Properties backing onto greenbelts, undeveloped plots and the Margalla foothills sit next to the habitat snakes already live in. Heavy rain floods burrows and pushes them onto higher, drier ground, which is where the houses are.

What actually reduces the risk:

  • Grass kept short, with a clear strip along the boundary wall
  • Rubble, firewood and stacked material moved away from walls
  • Gaps under gates and doors closed, drain outlets meshed
  • A rodent programme, because rodents are what brings them

Do this in May and June, before the rain. Mothballs, floor cleaner and repellent powders do not work, and mothballs are a poisoning risk to small children.

Which areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi do you cover?

Both cities, from our office at Plaza 70-B, Rafi Block, Bahria Town Phase VIII.

Regularly serviced areas include the F and G sectors, E-11, the I sectors and industrial area, DHA Islamabad, Bahria Town, Gulberg Greens and Islamabad Expressway, plus Rawalpindi including Saddar, Chaklala, Bahria Town Phase 1–8 and Adiala Road.

What differs here: more properties back onto greenbelts, undeveloped plots and the Margalla foothills, so more pressure arrives from surrounding ground — rodents, ants, spiders and occasional snakes during monsoon. The cooler winter makes October and November the right window for proofing work.

Healthcare premises in the capital come under the Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA) rather than the Sindh or Punjab commissions.

How do I choose a good pest control service in Islamabad?

Judge on what you can verify: a staffed local office, certifications you can see, a free inspection before any price, and named products with the MSDS available.

Two checks matter locally. Ask whether they will survey the boundary as well as the building — properties backing onto greenbelts, undeveloped plots and the Margalla foothills take most of their pressure from outside. And for healthcare premises, ask whether their documentation meets IHRA requirements, which is the regulator here rather than the Sindh or Punjab commissions.

We get ants and insects from the garden. What can we do?

Treat the boundary rather than the rooms. In Islamabad most household insects walk in from the surrounding ground, so the perimeter is where the job is.

What reduces it:

  • A cleared strip along the boundary wall, kept cut and free of stored material
  • Mulch, compost and soil kept back from the wall base
  • Door sweeps fitted and window mesh repaired
  • Gaps sealed where pipes, cables and the air conditioner line pass through walls
  • Outdoor lighting switched to warmer bulbs, which draw far fewer insects at night

For ants specifically, do not spray them. Some species split the colony when threatened and spread to several nests. Slow-acting bait carried back to the nest is the method that works.

Pressure rises through the warm months and after rain, so boundary work in May and June pays back most.

We have a farmhouse on a large plot. What does that need?

The boundary does most of the work. On a large plot the building is a small part of the problem and the surrounding ground is the rest.

What a programme covers:

  • A cleared strip along the boundary wall, kept cut and free of stored material
  • External rodent stations around the perimeter and outbuildings
  • Habitat reduction — rubble, firewood, timber and equipment moved off the ground and away from walls
  • Water management — irrigation pooling, tanks, unused fountains and ponds
  • Outbuildings, servant quarters and stores treated as part of the same programme, not separately
  • Proofing of the main house, which is usually the last line rather than the first

Snakes are a real consideration on plots backing onto open ground, especially after rain. The measure that works is rodent control plus boundary clearance — there is no spray for snakes, and repellent powders do not work.

Which is the best, top-rated and safest pest control company near me in Islamabad or Rawalpindi?

Use verifiable criteria rather than advertising claims — and apply them to us as strictly as to anyone else.

The checks that matter:

  • A staffed office in the twin cities you can actually visit
  • Employed technicians, so the follow-up visit and any warranty callback are practical
  • The product named on your report, with the safety data sheet on request
  • Certification numbers that can be checked with the issuing body
  • A written quotation covering scope, visits and warranty terms

Pest Orbit Pakistan holds ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 under IAF-accredited certification, is D-U-N-S registered, and designs treatment plans under Ph.D.-led integrated pest management.

Our Islamabad office covers the sectors, Bahria Town, DHA Islamabad, Gulberg Greens and Rawalpindi.

We do not publish star ratings or client counts, because those are the easiest things in this market to manufacture. Ask for the certificate numbers instead.

How much does termite treatment or deemak proofing cost in Islamabad?

The same two reference figures apply in the twin cities, with the survey deciding the final number.

  • Pre-construction termite proofing — PKR 10 to 25 per square foot of treated area
  • Post-construction treatment for homes — from PKR 20,000

Two local factors matter here. Properties backing onto green belts and the Margalla foothills sit closer to established soil colonies, so activity often arrives from outside the boundary rather than starting inside the house. And a great deal of housing stock in the sectors and Bahria Town is recent enough that pre-construction treatment records still exist — worth checking before you buy a treatment you may already have.

How does the Margalla foothills location affect pest activity in Islamabad?

Properties near the green belts sit against established natural habitat, so the pressure arrives from outside the boundary rather than starting inside the house.

What that means in practice for the sectors nearest the hills and green belts:

  • Snakes and scorpions appear more often in summer and after heavy rain, moving down from cover into gardens and boundary walls
  • Termites arrive from mature soil colonies in undisturbed ground beyond the plot
  • Rodents move in from vegetation as nights cool through September and October
  • Monsoon runoff from higher ground floods the spaces ground-dwelling pests shelter in, pushing them toward buildings

The useful conclusion is that treatment for these properties has to include the boundary and the garden, not only the building. Perimeter work and proofing matter more here than in a dense urban sector.

Keeping vegetation, rubble and stored material clear of the boundary wall makes a measurable difference and costs nothing.

Do you provide DRAP compliant pest management for pharmaceutical factories in Hattar?

Yes — the Hattar industrial estate and the wider Islamabad and Rawalpindi industrial belt are covered from our Islamabad office, with the documentation your DRAP inspection calls for.

The distinction worth stating plainly: compliance is held by your facility. Our role is to supply and maintain the pest management evidence that supports it.

What a pharmaceutical programme includes:

  • Risk-assessed visit frequency, documented rather than assumed
  • Zone-appropriate methods, with controlled areas handled differently from perimeter
  • A numbered device map and dated inspection records
  • Defined action levels and recorded response
  • Trend analysis, an approved product list with safety data sheets, competency records and a closed-out corrective action log

For sites in Hattar specifically, proximity to open ground raises external rodent pressure, so perimeter control and proofing usually carry more weight in the risk assessment than they would for an urban facility.

A named account manager keeps one specification and one reporting format across every site if you operate more than one.

Do you offer certified advanced IPM training programmes in Islamabad and KPK?

Yes. Training is delivered on site across Islamabad, Rawalpindi and the KPK industrial belt, and each participant who completes it receives a verifiable certificate.

The certificate is issued by us and can be verified with us — useful precisely because competency records are one of the first things an auditor asks to see.

Most requests come from three directions:

  • Facilities preparing for an audit that have found competency records missing from the evidence pack
  • Multi-site operators wanting one standard applied consistently across branches
  • Sites with recurring problems where the cause is daily practice rather than treatment — waste handling, storage, or gaps nobody was reporting

That third case is the one worth naming. Where a problem keeps returning between visits, training the resident team usually resolves more than increasing treatment frequency, and costs less.

Content is adapted to the sector — a pharmaceutical facility and a hotel need different material, and both differ from a warehouse.

Do you provide pest control in Islamabad F-sectors and Bahria Town?

Yes — the sectors, Bahria Town, DHA Islamabad and Rawalpindi are all covered from our Islamabad office.

Areas served include F, G, E, I and H sectors, Blue Area, Bahria Town all phases, DHA Islamabad, Gulberg Greens, Chak Shahzad, and across Rawalpindi including Saddar, Bahria and Askari.

Local pattern worth knowing: properties backing onto green belts and the Margalla foothills face pressure arriving from outside the boundary rather than starting inside the house. Snakes and scorpions in summer, termites from mature soil colonies in undisturbed ground, and rodents moving in as autumn nights cool.

For those properties, perimeter work and proofing matter more than they would in a dense urban sector — treating the building alone leaves the route open.

Older sector housing tends toward termite and rodent issues; newer Bahria and DHA construction toward termites where pre-construction stages were incomplete.
