Our management team leads by example and allocates the necessary resources — time, budget, and expertise — to ensure continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental (HSE) performance.
Scope of Policy
This policy applies to:
- All Pest Orbit employees — full-time, part-time, and temporary
- Subcontractors and third-party service providers working on our behalf
- All client premises where Pest Orbit services are delivered
- All Pest Orbit offices — Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad
- All vehicles, equipment, and chemical stores operated by Pest Orbit
Responsibilities

Management / Directors:
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for HSE programmes
- Allocate adequate resources for safety training and equipment
- Ensure legal and ISO compliance at all operational levels
- Review HSE performance and set improvement targets quarterly
HSE Manager / Supervisors:
- Conduct and document risk assessments for all service types
- Deliver and record HSE induction and refresher training
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and non-conformances
- Maintain up-to-date Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals
Technicians / Employees:
- Follow all safe work procedures and wear specified PPE at all times
- Report hazards, incidents, and near-misses immediately to supervisors
- Participate actively in HSE training sessions and toolbox talks
- Never use chemical products in a manner inconsistent with their SDS
Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment
Before every service engagement, Pest Orbit conducts a formal Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate controls.
- Pre-visit site surveys for residential, commercial, and industrial premises
- Risk ratings categorised as Low / Medium / High / Extreme
- Control measures following the Hierarchy of Controls: Eliminate → Substitute → Engineer → Administrate → PPE
- Risk assessments reviewed after any incident or significant site change
- All JHA documents retained for a minimum of 3 years
PPE & Equipment Standards
Pest Orbit provides all required Personal Protective Equipment at no cost to technicians. The following PPE is mandatory during service delivery:
- Chemical-resistant gloves (nitrile, minimum 0.5mm thickness)
- Full-face respirator or half-mask with P3 / OV filters during chemical application
- Chemical-resistant coveralls or uniform with appropriate splash protection
- Safety boots with steel toe cap and chemical-resistant soles
- Safety goggles / face shield when overhead application is involved
- High-visibility vest when working in traffic-adjacent environments
All PPE is inspected monthly and replaced immediately if damaged or beyond its service life. Equipment calibration records are maintained in the company's ISO 45001 documentation system.
Chemical Safety & WHO Compliance

Pest Orbit exclusively uses chemicals that are approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and registered with the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC). Our chemical management programme includes:
- Updated Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS) for every product in use
- Proper labelling, segregation, and locked storage of all pesticides
- Accurate dilution and dosage calculations per label and SDS instructions
- Disposal of chemical waste per Pakistan EPA regulations
- Regular rotation of active ingredients to prevent resistance development
- No application of chemicals in proximity to food preparation areas without client briefing and appropriate safeguards
Client Site Safety Procedures
We take the safety of your family, employees, and property seriously. Before and during every service visit, our team follows these procedures:
- Pre-Service Briefing: Explain the service, chemicals to be used, and any precautions the client must take
- Evacuation Guidance: Advise clients on re-entry timeframes after chemical applications (typically 2–4 hours)
- Pet & Plant Safety: Instruct on covering fish tanks, removing pets, and protecting sensitive plants
- Food & Surface Protection: Cover or remove exposed food items and utensils before any spray application
- Post-Service Report: Provide a written service report detailing chemicals used, areas treated, and recommendations
Emergency Procedures
In the event of an HSE emergency — chemical spill, exposure, fire, or injury — the following procedures apply:
- Stop all work immediately and secure the area
- Call emergency services (Rescue 1122 / Edhi 115) as required
- Apply first aid per training and refer to relevant SDS for chemical exposure
- Notify the Pest Orbit HSE Manager within 1 hour of any incident
- Complete an Incident Report Form within 24 hours
- Preserve the scene for investigation — do not disturb evidence
All technicians carry a First Aid Kit and relevant SDS documents on every job. Emergency contact details are displayed in all Pest Orbit vehicles.
Training & Competency
All Pest Orbit personnel receive structured training before commencing fieldwork and ongoing competency development thereafter:
- HSE induction for all new employees (minimum 8 hours)
- Pesticide handling and application certification
- First Aid & Emergency Response training (annual refresher)
- Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and entomology fundamentals
- Food safety and AIB/BRC audit preparation for commercial clients
- Monthly toolbox talks on rotating safety topics
- ISO 45001 internal auditor training for supervisors
Training records are maintained in our ISO management system and available for client or regulatory inspection upon request.

Policy Review
This Health & Safety Policy is reviewed:
- Annually as part of the ISO 45001 management review process
- Following any significant incident or near-miss
- After changes to legislation, operations, or significant organisational change
- When new significant hazards or risks are identified
Revisions are approved by the Managing Director and communicated to all staff within 5 business days of amendment.
